Forum Topic: What's coming up?
Topic started by: Jilly J at 11 October 2007 - 13:22
I see that at the back of the Literacy Time magazine you say what is coming up in the next issue. But is it possible to find out what is coming up later in the year as well as this would really help with my planning?

A Happy New Year to you all! I shall soon be planning themes for next year’s issues of Literacy Time PLUS+ (covering the academic year 2008-09). Are there any topics, authors or text types which you would really like to see covered? Why not let me know? Please remember to indicate which age group you teach.

I teach KS2. Will you be publishing anything on a historical theme in the next few issues in Literacy Time PLUS for either the 7-9 or 9-11 age group?

Yes I am hoping to include an issue with a Tudor theme for ages 9 to 11 – this is likely to be the July 08 issue. This issue will also look at the genre of historical fiction in general. We have also explored Ancient Egypt and The Romans in Literacy Time for ages 7 to 9 recently (Issues 56 and 50 respectively) and have covered the topic of Britain since 1940 at ages 9 to 11 (No 44). You can find out more about these back issues by clicking on the back issues button at the right hand side of this page, and back issues are available to order from our subscriptions department.

I loved that Rome in a day tour map you did in Literacy Time Y3&4. It was fantastic. Worth a year’s subscription on it’s own. In fact I think all of the new interactive resources you publish with Literacy Time are great – really good value for money.

Glad you liked it, JimBean. Nice to hear you think Literacy Time PLUS is good value for money and that you are making use of the resources in the online archive as well as current issues.

A year planner for each Literacy Time age group is available to download from this website. Type Literacy Time Year Planner into the search box and click on the age group you need. This chart covers the 07/08 academic year. Plans for 2008-2009 will be available soon.
