Estyn inspections in the Autumn term

The education and training inspectorate for Wales announces its programme of school inspections

Estyn, the education and training inspectorate for Wales, has announced its programme of school inspections for the Autumn term of 2008. A total of 106 establishments across Wales will be inspected.

Contracts for inspection have been allocated to Registered Inspectors for 82 Primary schools, 16 secondary schools, four special schools and 1 LEA’s Pupil Referral Units.

In addition, teams of Estyn HM Inspectors of Education and Training will carry out inspections at three independent schools.

All schools are inspected at least once every six years. Inspections report on:

  • educational standards
  • quality of education
  • quality of leadership in and management of the school (including whether the financial resources made available to the school are managed efficiently) and
  • the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils.
