Rose is asking for teachers’ views
Sir Jim Rose has launched a website to ask for the personal accounts and experiences of those with dyslexia, to help inform his recommendations to the Government about how children with dyslexia and similar learning difficulties learn best.
Rose is asking parents, teachers and young people with experiences of tackling these learning difficulties to visit the website, at www.dscf.gov.uk/jimroseanddyslexia/ and tell him what types of support works well and can help improve progress. The website will also contain regular updates and information about his review.
As well as talking to those with experience of dyslexia, Rose will be consulting experts and examining published research to help develop his recommendations. He will be looking at how dyslexia should first be identified and addressed in children in primary school.
Calling for personal accounts, Rose said: “Whilst research evidence is very important I’m eager to hear personal accounts and I would urge parents, teachers, children and young people to have a look at my website and tell me what has worked well, and what has worked less well, to improve the progress made by children with dyslexia.”
Rose anticipates that the report containing his recommendations will be published by the end of February 2009.
