Free book for NYR Coordinators
7 May 2008

Scholastic are giving a free copy of their book You Can Make the most of the National Year of Reading to every Local Authority Coordinator for the National Year of Reading. The latest title in the best-selling You Can resource series, the book offers help and ideas for teachers and co-ordinators to celebrate the year.
The book, written by literacy co-ordinator Kate Ruttle, is filled with practical ideas for 4- to 11-year-olds which tie in with the National Year of Reading monthly themes. It concentrates on how the National Year of Reading can make a real difference to attitudes as it celebrates all forms of reading, from online blogs to songs.

Each of the 150 National Year of Reading Local Authority coordinators was emailed personally to inform them of the initiative. The book offers help and ideas to support them in their important role in championing the National Year of Reading and promoting the strategic importance of literacy, both now and in the future.
Denise Cripps, MD of Scholastic Education said: “We are proud to be supporting the 2008 National Year of Reading at Scholastic, and have been looking at many ways that we can help everyone take part and make the most of the year. Offering this free gift of time-saving ideas and practical support to the coordinators who are spreading the word throughout their local authority was the most obvious place to start.”
