About the May 2008 issue

Time to embrace the great outdoors! From ways to make the most of nature’s teaching resources, to making your own outdoor games, we’ve got creative activities and ideas to help you step outside.

Learning outdoors – Haven’t got time to make any more resources? Then take your class outside and make the most of all the ready-made, natural resources that are available for a cross-curricular experience.

Garden games – If you’re short of space inside, then why not use your outdoor area to play a game of skittles – made by the children of course! Fences and walls can be brightened up with a colourful display of art, too.

RE: Friends and Heroes – With beautifully illustrated characters and a whole host of educational resources, Friends and Heroes is a fantastic DVD-based RE resource that brings the Old and New Testaments to life. Use our lesson plan, video clips and downloadable worksheets to teach the first episode ‘What is worship?’.

Maths: problem-solving solved! – Help children to develop effective problem-solving skills with our simple four-step procedure and practical challenges.

Philosophy in pictures – Can you ever step into the same river twice? That’s the opening question of our new philosophy-in-pictures series. Use our stunning A2 river poster and photocopiables to inspire philosophical thinking, too.

More resources this month include: ideas for the National Year of Reading theme ‘Mind and body’; simple craft ideas for Father’s Day, plus our creative topic on the all New 7 Wonders of the World, with seven interactive games.

Happy wondering….
