About the March 2008 issue
Welcome to Literacy Time PLUS Ages 7 to 9, finalist in this year’s Educational Resource Awards.

The March issue of Literacy Time PLUS Ages 7 to 9 is all about Performance – on stage and screen.
And we begin with the best – the nation’s favourite bard, William Shakespeare. Proving that lower juniors can benefit hugely from reading and performing his plays (a point made strongly by playwright Campbell Perry in this month’s Feature Article), we proudly present As You Like It: Interactive Auditions, a set of four short films in which different children read the same speech from As You Like It. But which actor would you cast in the role of Jaques?
Complementing this is a modern retelling of the same play extract, from Richard Cuddington’s Easy Reading Shakespeare series, provided as a group reading leaflet.
And if you fancy putting on a play yourselves, and making your own movies, then follow the tips on our downloadable poster, How to make a movie.
Also on the Performance theme, we have an extract from the wonderful Bed and Breakfast Star by Jaqueline Wilson, and children can find out more about the author in our downloadable Author Profile.
Lots of you have also been asking for resources which link directly to the Literacy Framework Planning Units. On-screen resource 2 provides everything you need to prepare Year 3, Narrative Unit 4 – Authors and Letters. Thank you to author and poet Moira Andrew for helping us to compile such a comprehensive and fascinating package of materials.
You can give us your feedback on any Literacy Time PLUS resources, share ideas or discuss a topic of your choice in our online Forum. Go on, we’d love to hear from you.
